* = severe mic movement due to 'the bust'. luckily, no equipment/tapes were taken
and the tape continued to roll without cuts! basically, the stand was taken
down, and mics were hand-held rest of set. Kudos to C.D. for his ballsy
determination to complete his mission!!

I've been a Dead Head since 1980, and I consider the TNK and DS/StSt/11/DS to be in my top 10 favorite pieces of music. In paricular the transition from the The11 to DS is stunning in this band's ability to transition from a gorgeous and frenetic jam to the lilting 2nd verse. Please hear this music - humanity will be better for it.
Also ... if you like this, I recommend checking out 2002-08-31 as well for some amazing versions of some of the same songs and others.
I am fairly new to archive, and I am wishing to hear a better mix of both these shows. I seem to recall that Phil released a fair amount of soundboards from certain tours with this band. Does anyone out there have a way to connect me with boards from '02?

This is simply one of the best sounding FOB AUD recordings I have ever heard, in terms of capturing the full dynamic range of a Phil show. The bass is simply massive, but not overwhelming. Every instrument is distinct and sounds wonderful. It captures exactly what the music sounded like on June 1, 2002.
In addition, set 2 was one of the best pieces of music I have ever had the privilege of hearing live. This recording really captures the magic of that night.
Do yourself a favor, pop these CDs into a massive stereo system and play this one LOUD at least once. It's great to really feel Phil's bass in your chest when you're not even at the show.
